ty sat at his desk, pencil in hand, writing...........
glory walked slowly, her body heavy with foal. a loud neigh escaped her maw, piercing the quite of the night. snow fell in small flakes, landing on her back and melting from the warmth of her body, and on the ground where it stuck. her strides came slower, her feet seeming to be harder to move, her vision becoming slightly blurred. she stumbled through the thin layer of snow, trying to reach the trees so she could foal under their shelter. finally she reached them. involuntarily(sp?) her legs folded and her heavy body dropped to the ground.
the contractions came slow, and slightly painful at first. as the labor wore on they came closer together and the pain greater. her breathes came fast and sweat broke out in patches over her coat. she craned her neck around, looking at her stomach. another contraction came on, causing her to lay her head back on the ground. the pain was beginning to become overwelming. an hour passed and still no sign of the foal was shone. glory labored harder and soon there was a small pop. the forelegs appeared and the mare took a few deep breathes while there was a break in the contractions. a gasp escaped her when they started again. she was tired from laboring for more than an hour and it was her first time to foal. still, she continued. soon, the shoulders appeared and then the entire body slipped from her. she lay on the ground, resting for a few minutes before scrambling to her feet. instinct urged her to turn around, to care for the foal. she turned and dropped her neck to the tiny bundle on the ground, sniffing it. her tongue slipped from her mouth and began going over it. soon, she had the sac torn off the foal, revealing a red filly. glory looked up at the sky, seeing a red light coming from the moon. she looked back down at the filly. it was strange, the birth of a foal on the night of an eclipse. especially a lunar. stranger still, the filly was red. a gasp of realization came from glory`s body. " your name is lunar eclipse." she said. she licked lunar dry and encouraged her to scramble to her feet. the filly squeeled, trying to untangle her legs. after about 15 minutes she was standing. glory nudged her towards her flank. lunar took the hint and shoved her nose under. a happy nickered escaped her. her tiny brush of a tail swished happily.
the story was about the thoroughbred mare he was training for amy, lunar eclipse. although, amy didn`t know the mare was for her.......
